Historic Museums in Roanoke, VA
This is a railroad town, so don't miss the locomotive collection at the Transportation Museum of Virginia, or those iconic black and white photographs of steam engines shot by famous train enthusiast, O. Winston Link, at the museum that bears his name. Stroll along the Roanoke Rail Walk with its interactive displays that let you sound a train horn and control signal lights and a rail-crossing arm. All of these venues are just a short walk from the Inn- all aboard!
The Science Museum of Western Virginia and the History Museum of Western Virginia are both located in the downtown Center in the Square Complex. The Harrison Museum of African American Culture is engaging and you can always take in the sites along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
